Beams or columns are background furniture items that provide support for torches and can be used as decoration. I was making a new house out of the new 1 3 blocks and decided to use marble as it was elegant. They are found naturally in underground cabins and can be crafted. The pillar statue is a decorative statue that can be found underground.

All the same npcs cannot fall through platforms but can move up them. Instead they only serve a function for the sake of some fun decorations. Most of the blocks that come with the chisel mod have no distinctive characteristics. Beams and columns can be stacked from the ground and exist in the background providing support for suspended torches that will not inhibit character movement.

To my dismay i had no choice but but to use wooden beams as there are not even other types of beams aside from wooden beams. I usually find marble and granite biomes at the end of the pre built underground mine cart tracks try those. They form continuous vertical pillars when stacked. Most flying enemies can move up platforms but cannot go down through them although some enemies are not affected by them at all. Platforms are a different type of block in which a player may walk across and jump up to drop down through. I was making the house slightly elevated and wanted to use marble beams as the support pillars.
